On September 26, the immersive exhibition “War Up Close” took place at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, supported by William & Mary Libraries, the William & Mary Studio for Teaching & Learning Innovation, and the Department of Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (REES). The event gathered around 200 students, offering them a unique opportunity to delve into the harsh reality of the war in Ukraine.
During the exhibition, visitors could experience different aspects of the war through virtual reality with the help of Oculus. An interactive touchscreen with the “War Up Close” website became particularly popular among the students, who actively explored the 360-degree panoramas and videos featured on the platform.
Additionally, a lecture was held during the exhibition, where the organizers shared information about the project and its goal—to highlight Russian terror in Ukraine. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions, actively engage in discussions, and exchange opinions.
The “War Up Close” exhibition was an important step in raising awareness among young people about the consequences of the war and promoting a deeper understanding of Russia’s devastating policies.
Reminder: until November 20, the “War Up Close” exhibition is open at the National Museum of History of Moldova.
