On February 24-25, the immersive War Up Close exhibition took place in Canada’s capital, marking the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The event was attended by students from Carleton University, residents of Ottawa, journalists, diplomats, and friends of Ukraine. Some stayed for hours, deeply engaged in each story presented in the space.
Within five minutes of opening, the first visitors arrived, and after closing, organizers had to ask guests to leave the gallery due to the overwhelming interest in the exhibition. Particularly moving were the VR experience and the drawings by children from occupied territories, created as part of the Sunflower Dreams project. Some visitors wept, while others came to show their support.
The exhibition was attended by prominent figures and accredited ambassadors of European countries, emphasizing the project’s international significance. The War Up Close team continues to raise global awareness about the war in Ukraine. In March, the exhibition will travel to a new city.
Previously, the War Up Close exhibition was held at Okanagan College and the University of British Columbia in Canada.
