This time, on May 10th, 2025, the exhibition was hosted at Finley’s Bar & Grill in Nelson, a small but popular tourist town on the border of Canada and the United States.
Finley’s Bar & Grill is a local legend. For more than twenty years, its owners have been building their business, and today it is one of the most popular spots in the heart of the city, known for its spacious patios and beautiful views. The owner, who has Ukrainian roots, together with his wife, has taken an active stand in support of Ukraine during the war.
In addition to War Up Close, on May 10th 2025 the exhibition featured several other projects:
– Artwork by Ukrainian refugee children from the Sunflower Dreams project;
– The works created by young volunteers from Kyiv who, with their teacher’s help, came together to support their loved ones on the front line. Sustain Ukraine supports them.
“Unissued Diplomas” by the Maple Hope Foundation, an exhibition honoring the memory of Ukrainian students whose lives were cut short by the Russian invasion. It tells the stories of 40 young Ukrainians who never had the chance to complete their studies.
Together, we are bringing greater attention to Ukraine!
This initiative was made possible thanks to the Maple Hope Foundation, Finley’s Bar & Grill, and the generosity of donors from Canada and around the world.
Earlier, the city of Castlegar hosted the virtual reality exhibition War Up Close & Arts.
