On April 2, “War Up Close” presented a VR exhibition at the Conference Hall “Irpin” as part of the Forum on the second anniversary of the liberation of Kyiv region. The event was held under the slogan “Kyiv Region. We Believe. We Strengthen. We Revive,” and gathered representatives of district administrations, communities of the region, charitable organizations, and international partners. The results of the panel discussions led to strategies for the region’s recovery in three key areas:
- Infrastructure and economic reconstruction,
- Medical and psychological rehabilitation of the affected,
- Strengthening unity, patriotism, and historical memory.
The “War Up Close” project began with documenting Russian war crimes in Kyiv and the region. Its team was among the first to film and show the world the horrific footage of destruction in Bucha, Borodyanka, Irpin, Stoyanka, and other settlements in the Kyiv region. Using VR technologies at our booth, forum visitors could immerse themselves in the early days of de-occupation and closely witness the true face of war in these places.
In the summer of 2022, in cooperation with the Kyiv Regional State Administration, “War Up Close” launched a VR Museum of War Memory, which documents and showcases the consequences of Russian aggression.
